Watercolor Botanical Original | Showy Orchis

This Showy Orchis was snapped on the Art Loeb Trail after a hard rain and was certainly showing off their beautiful purple and white blooms.

The Showy Orchis is a native orchid to North America and can be found in dense forests around the Appalachian region. Unlike tropical orchids these flowers bloom on the ground among the leaf litter and moss. Each plant only produces a few blooms so to capture these on the trail as the plant was producing blooms is extremely special. It was a joy to be able to see these for the first time on the trail and to paint them to remember them forever.

The canvas size is 3.5x5 inches and comes matted and ready to frame in a 4x6 inch frame. The frame in the last two photos is NOT included in this purchase.
