Watercolor Botanical Print | Showy Orchis

This Showy Orchis was snapped on the Art Loeb Trail after a hard rain and was certainly showing off their beautiful purple and white blooms.

The Showy Orchis is a native orchid to North America and can be found in dense forests around the Appalachian region. Unlike tropical orchids these flowers bloom on the ground among the leaf litter and moss. Each plant only produces a few blooms so to capture these on the trail as the plant was producing blooms is extremely special. It was a joy to be able to see these for the first time on the trail and to paint them to remember them forever.

Prints are printed on Red River Aurora Art Natural 300 paper in 3.5x5 size and are personally printed and signed by me at Walking Iris Studio. Prints come unmatted.
