Portugal Blooms | Forest Periwinkle

Forest Periwinkle captures a moment when a bloom is reaching the end of it's life and yet a new bloom is emerging to take it's place. A little rustic and battered but nevertheless persisting and blooming once more.

I snapped a photo of this beautiful periwinkle on the forest trail outside of Peña Palace as we were walking back to our Airbnb in Sintra. Periwinkles are native to the Mediterranean region and bloom all over Sintra's forest floors.
